Airplanes and the Ecuadorian Air Force

The tip of the Salinas Peninsula is a military base for all the branches of the Ecuador armed services.  These bases have education and training facilities for the navy, army, air force and the coast guard.  We have a ring side seat for the training for pilots for the Fuerza Aérea Ecuatoriana, FAE starting with the small piper cub type planes, to what looks like vintage WWII planes.

It has been fun watching these planes and pilots weave their way around the buildings with their touch and go practice sessions.  Most days we see several planes out working on their take offs and landing.

I assume from the picture above that the air force has a sense of humor!

Each of the branches have a separate entrance to their facility.  The photo’s above are the entrance to the air force compound.
